Council is responsible for ensuring that businesses such as restaurants, cafès, motels, hotels, B&B’s, hairdressers, caravan parks, bottle shops and wineries adhere to operating quality standards. These standards are set by State and National Acts relating to cleanliness, structure and operational principles to protect public health and wellbeing.

Registering a Food Premises

All premises trading in food must be registered with Council. This is a legal requirement under the Victorian Food Act 1984 and premises can be fined if found to be trading without registering with or notifying Council prior to trading commencing. To register complete an application form.

  • Class 1, 2 and 3 Food Premises are the highest risk classes, these require annual registration with Council.
  • Class 4 Food Premises are the lowest risk rating, these incur no fees but still require notification given to Council.

Registering a Health and Wellbeing Premises

If you are opening a new health and wellbeing premises within the Strathbogie Shire you must be registered with Council. To register complete an application form submitted with a copy of the premises plans to Council for approval.

Registering for Prescribed Accommodation

If you are opening a new accommodation premises within the Strathbogie Shire you must be registered with Council. To register complete an application form submitted with a copy of the premises plans to Council for approval.

Prescribed Accommodation Registration

Renewing a Registered Premises Every year registered food, health and accommodation premises are required to renew their registration. Renewal occurs in October/November every year. If you don’t receive a renewal application, please contact Council.
