Friends of the Pool committees play an important role in ensuring that our community’s voice is heard in the operation and management of pools across the Strathbogie Shire. By actively involving our communities, Council is committed to making decisions that reflect the needs and aspirations of our residents.

These committees collaborate closely with Council, offering valuable insights and feedback on the operation and management of our pools. They also help shape the future of these important community assets by advising on programming, capital works, and necessary improvements.

Join us in making a positive impact on our community by contributing to the future of our pools.

FAQs

What is the commitment?

The committee typically meets monthly from November to March. However, if there are no pressing discussion points or actions to address, we won’t hold a meeting just for the sake of it.

Beyond meetings, you may choose to get involved in various activities, such as helping to run a BBQ at pool events, raising concerns throughout the season, or meeting with the group separately from Council to discuss the pool.

Your commitment can be as flexible as you want it to be. Whether you’re interested in occasional participation or taking on a more active role — like becoming a lifeguard, earning some money, and helping to run the pool — there’s a place for everyone. The level of involvement is entirely up to you.

Will I be paid for my time on the Committee?

No, this is a volunteer role.

Is there one committee or individual committees for each pool?

Each pool has its own Friends of the Pool committee. These committees work independently but also come together to collaborate with Council.
