Kool Skools is an exciting recording and multimedia project for secondary aged students and offers young people from across Strathbogie Shire the opportunity to experience being a recording artist for a day.
Kool Skools promotes, develops and supports a diverse range of talent and all genres of contemporary music writing and performance. Each artist gets to work within a professional studio in Melbourne, with a professional engineer, and record their very own hit. Each project receives 450 CDs containing their own music, graphics, photos and videos.
Each year an Awards Nights is held in November to showcase and celebrate the best songs and performances. Around 40 acts from the project get to perform live. The awards night is modelled on the ‘ARIA Awards’ and feature well known industry personalities and some famous names as guests and some even presenting the awards.
In 2022, local outfit ‘Bad Ibis’ took out Best Rock Track for their song Waiting for the Weekend while ‘Inversion’ received a special judges choice award in the band category.
For those who don’t play music or sing, Kool Skools also provides a great opportunity to be involved in videography, photography, graphic designing and much more. Kool Skools is a real gateway to the music world – not just a school project!
The Kool Skools Program is funded through FreeZA and is offered free of charge to participants.
