Bush and Bay
An Artbox exhibition by Bruce Hargrave

Dates: 3 June to 30 June 2026
Venue:
The Artbox, Main Street Strathbogie

The travelling micro gallery Artbox returns to Main Street Strathbogie, bringing a new season of exhibitions to the heart of the town and further enriching the region’s cultural life.

Opening the program is Bush and Bay by popular local artist Bruce Hargrave. The exhibition features around 30 framed watercolour works depicting landscapes and seascapes, many inspired by the Strathbogie region as well as the Albert Park and bayside areas.

An official opening will be held at 2.30 pm on Sunday 7 June, with Andy Wilson.

Visitors can meet Bruce daily and step inside the Artbox between 11am and 3pm, with the exhibition also viewable at any time through the glass windows, providing continuous public access.

A valued supporter of the Artbox program and a repeat exhibitor, Bruce is recognised for his impressionist and realist style.

His work captures both the natural beauty of local landscapes and the distinctive character of the region’s iconic buildings, hotels and homes.

Bruce is an active member of the Watercolour Society of Victoria and has held many successful solo exhibitions. His practice reflects a strong appreciation for the expressive qualities of watercolour, with a focus on colour, subtle tonal variation and the unique challenges of the medium.

20% of all sales from the exhibition will be donated to the Euroa Chamber of Commerce Bushfire Relief Fund.

Mayor Cr Scott Jeffery said Artbox plays an important role in bringing arts experiences into smaller communities.

“Artbox is a fantastic way to bring high quality arts experiences into our smaller communities and create reasons for people to explore our towns,” Cr Jeffery said.

“It offers visitors and locals alike an ideal opportunity to stop, experience local art and enjoy a coffee from the Strathbogie General Store just across the road.”

Artbox will be located next to the Shire Hall on Main Street Strathbogie throughout June, July and August.

Exhibition opportunities are available for July and August, with artists, collectives and creative organisations invited to showcase their work in this highly visible and popular micro gallery space.
