Goulburn River open following floods

22 Dec 2022

The Goulburn River will reopen from midday today (Thursday, December 22).

An exclusion zone will remain for 100m either side of Chinaman’s Bridge.

A structural assessment of Chinaman’s Bridge has told us it is dangerous and will collapse at any time.

Council cannot and will not compromise people’s safety.

We urge all water users to please be safe on the water. There continues to be moving hazards following recent major flooding.

Traversing under Kirwan’s Bridge is open via the transit lanes. We continue to wait for the results of the safety assessment before we can make a decision on reopening the bridge to traffic.

Water patrols will be occurring over the holiday period.

We encourage you to please watch our website and social media channels for the most up-to-date information.
