Strathbogie Shire Council helps take the guesswork out of solar with new regional initiative

1 Aug 2025

Strathbogie Shire Council is proud to announce its participation in the Goulburn Murray Solar Savers program – a new initiative making it easier for residents and businesses to access trusted, high-quality solar and energy-efficient products.

The program provides an easy-to-use online portal that allows community members to request multiple quotes from fully vetted, reliable suppliers working locally in the Goulburn Murray region. The goal is to reduce the stress of researching options, while helping residents find the best deal on quality solar and energy-saving products – all with support to access available government rebates.

Chief Executive Officer, Rachelle Quattrocchi welcomed the initiative as a valuable tool for the Strathbogie community.

“We know people want to reduce their energy bills, but it can be overwhelming trying to figure out what’s best and who to trust,” Ms Quattrocchi said.

“Goulburn Murray Solar Savers connects residents directly with trusted installers, backed by local councils, and helps them access government rebates with confidence.”

The Goulburn Murray Solar Savers program is a regional expansion of the successful Solar Savers initiative based in Melbourne. It now includes six participating councils:

  • Strathbogie Shire Council
  • Mitchell Shire Council
  • Murrindindi Shire Council
  • Greater Shepparton City Council
  • Alpine Shire Council
  • Indigo Shire Council

The program offers a curated list of suppliers and products including:

  • Solar PV systems
  • Battery storage
  • Hot water heat pumps
  • Efficient reverse cycle heating and cooling
  • Induction cooktops
  • EV chargers
  • Insulation and draft proofing
  • Home energy assessments

Residents and business owners can register their interest and request quotes via: www.goulburnmurraysolarsavers.org.au/strathbogie-shire.html

Suppliers participating in the program are familiar with all current State Government rebate schemes and can support customers in accessing them as part of the quoting process. However, residents are still encouraged to conduct their own research and may seek additional quotes outside of the program.

The Goulburn Murray Solar Savers initiative will run over several years, helping the Strathbogie Shire transition to more sustainable, affordable energy while supporting our community through cost-of-living pressures.
