New Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations in Nagambie

1 Aug 2023

Two new Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations have been installed in Nagambie after Council consulted with the community on their location.

The project comes after car charging station company Evie Networks put in an application, supported by Council, for Destination Charging Across Victoria (DCAV) Program to place one 50kw EV charger in Nagambie.

Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Laura Binks said there was overwhelming support from the community for one of the proposed locations, which is where the EV Stations are now installed.

“We used both our online engagement platform Share Strathbogie as a method for community members to select their preferred location,” Cr Binks said.

“We also held a drop-in engagement session in Nagambie where community members could interact face-to-face and contribute their preferred location at the session.

“The Nagambie community clearly told us they preferred Option 1, located in the High Street carpark.

“As a result, Councillors endorsed this option, and we are excited these charging stations are now live and can be utilised by EV drivers.”

Cr Binks said the EV charging stations would mean the Nagambie community was contributing to achieving Net Zero Emissions.

“It’s also a fantastic way of attracting tourism as we know so many drivers are making the switch to EVs,” she said.
