New accessible toilet completed at Friendlies Oval
An accessible, inclusive toilet at the Friendlies Oval in Euroa has been completed.
The project has faced a series of delays and Council is pleased to announce these were overcome and the facility can now be used.
Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Laura Binks said the recent floods in October last year had delayed the project.
“Our contractors were also suffering as a result of the floods and we continued to have wet weather during November which delayed things even further,” she said.
“We are so pleased this project has come to fruition.
“Council knows this is a well-loved and utilised facility during the cricket season and we hope the facility makes the amenities more comfortable.”
The project was completed with Strathbogie Shire Council funding of $60,000 for the design and construction of the new accessible toilet.
Friendlies Oval committee members Peter Morley and Rob Asquith said the toilet added to the grounds which had been undergoing continuous improvements over recent years.
“The grounds are admired by people who play here,” Mr Morely said.
The oval is being more and more utilised by the community with not just cricket taking place on the grounds.
“We have women’s hockey training and (My Future Academy’s) Kids Spartan.”
Cr Binks said the oval has proven to be a fantastic venue to improve health and wellbeing and foster social connections.
