Nagambie residents encouraged to join LEAP Steering Group
Strathbogie Shire Council is calling on Nagambie residents to join the Local Emergency Action Plan (LEAP) Steering Group as part of the LEAPing into Resilience Project.
Strathbogie Shire Administrator Peter Stephenson said this is fifth township to take part and develop local emergency plans.
Currently, township of Strathbogie’s LEAP is in progress and Avenel, Euroa and Violet Town’s LEAPs have already been completed.
“The development of these local plans has been such a positive community driven activity,” Mr Stephenson said.
“There has been great participation from other communities, and we encourage Nagambie residents to get involved in the development of their LEAP.
“You can register to join the Steering Group which will be formed to guide the project to completion.
“We know the project will take around six to eight months, beginning in March.”
This project seeks to create greater community awareness of the risks faced and promote greater community resilience in being able to plan, respond and recover from emergency events.
Participating communities within Strathbogie Shire are:
- Avenel – completed
- Euroa – completed
- Nagambie – registrations now open
- Strathbogie – in progress
- Violet Town – completed
LEAPs are a local community approach to emergency preparedness and compliments the other levels of emergency planning in Victoria being Municipal, Regional and State levels.
The LEAP project is a collaboration between Council and various emergency agencies with the community.
To register, visit the Nagambie tab at https://share.www.strathbogie.vic.gov.au/LEAP-resilience and complete the registration form.
Registration closes at 5pm on Monday, February 26, 2024.
