Join the Strathbogie LEAP Steering Group

15 Nov 2023

Strathbogie Shire Council is calling on Strathbogie residents to join the Local Emergency Action Plan (LEAP) Steering Group as part of the LEAPing into Resilience Project.

Mayor Cr Laura Binks said Strathbogie was the fourth township to take part with Euroa and Avenel’s plans underway and the Violet Town LEAP already completed.

“There has been fantastic participation from these communities and we encourage Strathbogie residents to get involved in the development of their LEAP,” she said.

“You can register to join the Steering Group which will be formed to guide the project to completion.

“The project is expected to take around four to six months, beginning in January to February next year.

“The project seeks to create greater community awareness of the risks faced and promote greater community resilience in being able to plan, respond and recovery from emergency events.”

Participating communities within Strathbogie Shire are:

  • Avenel
  • Euroa
  • Nagambie
  • Strathbogie
  • Violet Town

LEAPs are a local community approach to emergency preparedness and compliments the other levels of emergency planning in Victoria being Municipal, Regional and State levels.

The LEAP project is a collaboration between Council and the various emergency agencies with the community.

To register, visit the Strathbogie tab at https://share.www.strathbogie.vic.gov.au/LEAP-resilience and complete the registration form. Registration closes at 5pm on Wednesday 13 December 2023.
