Have your say on Council’s Cycling and Walking Strategy

16 Oct 2023

Do you love to cycle or walk the many tracks and trails throughout Strathbogie Shire?

Strathbogie Shire Council is keen to talk to you!

We are calling on our residents to assist with the development of a Cycling and Walking Strategy.

“The strategy will guide cycling and walking infrastructure in the future as well as providing direct maintenance to improve existing cycling and walking routes,” Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Laura Binks said.

“Ensuring our residents can take part in activities that assist with their health and wellbeing is something that’s not only incredibly important to Council, it’s also included in our Council Plan.

“The Strathbogie Ranges is such a beautiful mountainous area that attracts many cyclists who love to test their riding skills.

“We also know that there are keen bush walkers who seek out the Strathbogie’s nature walks and scenery.”

Council is calling on the community to participate in a survey on its online engagement hub Share Strathbogie to assist in identifying the most popular tracks and trails as well as the infrastructure required for cyclists and walkers.

“We have already engaged with the Avenel community at their recent monthly market and we will continue this engagement at Violet Town Market, Euroa Farmers Market and at Jacobson’s Outlook in Nagambie,” Cr Binks said.

Market dates:

  • Violet Town Market | Saturday 14 October, 9am-1pm
  • Euroa Farmers Market | Saturday 21 October, 9am-1pm
  • Jacobson’s Outlook, Nagambie | Friday 20 October, 1-4pm

You can meet our staff and have your say at any of the previously mentioned face-to-face opportunities, online via www.share.strathbogie.vic.gov.au or visit one of Council’s survey stations listed below:

  • Avenel Library
  • Euroa Library
  • Violet Town Library,

The development of this strategy is an action included in the Strathbogie Shire Climate Change Action Plan.
