Have your say on ARTC’s draft designs
Share your views, share them loudly and share them on repeat.
This is the message from Strathbogie Shire Council who is urging its community to have its say on two draft design options to replace the Anderson St Bridge in Euroa.
The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) today released bridge and vehicle underpass options to replace the current bridge and support the delivery of Inland Rail in Euroa.
“The future design of the Anderson St Bridge, the Euroa Railway Precinct and the movement of vehicles (rail and road) has a significant impact on our town’s future,” Mayor Cr Chris Raeburn said.
“We need to make sure the decision makers hear our voice. So, there is no doubt about our community’s preferred solution.
“I urge you to share your views, share them loudly and share them on repeat.”
Cr Raeburn said Council’s promise to the community was that it would do everything it could to ensure the ARTC, Department of Transport and ultimate decision maker the Minister for Transport listens to the community’s view.
Cr Sally Hayes-Burke echoed the Mayor’s message.
“To everyone who is passionate about this issue and wants to have input into the future solution of the Anderson St Bridge this is your opportunity to have your say,” Cr Hayes-Burke said.
“Council believes very strongly the community should be the decision-makers in this project, but if this is not the case we need to use people power to ensure our voices are heard.
“Share your views, share them loudly and share them on repeat.”
Cr Raeburn said the design of this project had significant impact on the future of the Euroa township.
“We advocated strongly for the ARTC to take a step back in the process and investigate two design solutions for the replacement of the ARTC bridge and they have listened,” he said.
“Council will do everything it can to make sure our community’s views is heard, but we need your help.”
People can view the draft designs from Wednesday, September 22, on the ARTC’s interactive map and website at www.inlandrail.com.au/euroa-map-marker or at its new shop at 71 Railway St, Euroa. The ARTC will then seek feedback in person, through an online survey and hard-copy surveys will be sent to all residents.
