Have your say: Avenel township signs
Avenel residents are being asked for their feedback on options for new township signage.
The designs aim to recognise Avenel’s unique region and history, while creating a positive first impression by improving the arrival to the town and helping with navigation to the town centre.
Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor, Cr Laura Binks, said the township signage was stage two of the Avenel Streetscape Upgrade.
“We’ve been working with the Avenel community to identify the best places for the signage and to ensure the new signage aligns with Avenel’s character,” Cr Binks said.
“Now we need your help.
“We’re seeking the community feedback on 10 options for the township signage.”
The signage will be featured at three sites, these being:
- Approach from Hume Freeway: Intersection of Mitchell and Jones St
- Approach from Hume Freeway: Intersection of Lambing Gully Road, Seymour Avenel Road and Henry St
- Approach from Nagambie: Intersection of Bank Street and Vearings Rd.
To see the signage options and share your views, go to:
- share.www.strathbogie.vic.gov.au
- visit a Strathbogie Shire Customer Service Centre, or
- head to the Avenel Library to visit the survey station.
“Council’s streetscape renewal project is enhancing the visual appeal of townships throughout the shire,” she said.
“In Avenel we’re working to reflect and celebrate its surroundings and at the same time respecting its history.”
Stage 1 of the program saw works in the Queen Street business area, which included low level tree planting, verge extension past the post office and some new designs in our street furniture.
Feedback closes at 9am on Monday, October 2, 2023.
