#GreatNewsThursday – Locals support hospitality businesses through Fairley Leadership Program
UPDATE:
Since this project was shared in Council’s eNews publication, another three businesses have signed on.
Madonna and Coral (part of the Fairley Leadership Program 2023) have been out and about talking to businesses.
“The premise of our Voice of Strathbogie project is to encourage the locals to talk about the businesses that they love,” Coral said.
“These businesses employ locals , thereby contributing to and supporting a sustainable region. By encouraging our businesses’ success we are helping invest in our future.”
The new businesses to join the project include:
- Strathbogie General Store
- Mawson’s Bakery, Euroa
- Soda’s Ice Cream, Euroa
“Our backyard is a picturesque part of the state that welcomes visitors. We would love it if the locals could review our local businesses,” Coral said.
Violet Town community members Madonna Logue and Coral Irvine are supporting local cafes and restaurants to increase their social network footprint.
The pair are taking part in this year’s Fairley Leadership Program and chose to support local hospitality for their program community project.
“Both Madonna and I are passionate about the Strathbogie Ranges and as such, chose to focus on supporting cafes and restaurants,” Coral said.
“Many people are aware of TripAdvisor and will often read their reviews, particularly when they are overseas to research a place they want to eat at, to see or to stay at.
“Together we came up with a simple plan to encourage participation on TripAdvisor.
“The plan was to actively invite reviews with signage. Not simply acknowledging the feedback, but actively seeking it.”
Coral encouraged locals to look for the signage and help these businesses by leaving a review.
“Who better to tell visitors about a local café than their own community members?” Coral said.
