#GreatNewsThursday – Kindergarten children receive informative talk from Euroa Arboretum
A series of presentations are taking place in local kindergartens to celebrate National Tree Day (July 30) thanks to Council and the Euroa Arboretum.
Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Laura Binks said Council funded the initiative which sees Charlotte Langman from the Euroa Arboretum present the kindergarten children with a plant.
“The children also get to hear from Charlotte about plants and all of the exciting ways they can enjoy plant life at the Euroa Arboretum,” she said.
The series kicked off at the Euroa Kindergarten on July 25 and will finish up at Good Start Early Learning Centre in Euroa on August 2 with Charlotte also presenting at the Avenel, Violet Town and Nagambie Kindergartens.
National Tree Day is on July 30 – Australia’s largest tree planting and nature care event.
It’s a call to action for all Australians to get their hands dirty and give back to the community.
The Euroa Arboretum (the Arb) is the current winner of the Victorian Premier’s Sustainability Award – it is a stunning 27-hectare bush setting which has been restored over the past 30 years.
One of the programs held at the Arb is Bush Kinder – a nature-based early childhood education teaches young children to care for and interact with the natural environment.
“The social, emotional and practical skills that are acquired in this environment are life-long skills that can successfully guide children and enrich lives into the future,” Charlotte said.
The Euroa Arboretum offers guided bush kinder programs, self-guided tours, nature connection and art workshops for young children. It is also the site for the cultural wawa biik Taungurung Cultural Experience tour.
