#GreatNewsThursday: Euroa CFA competes at State Championships following track upgrade

The Euroa CFA are making great use of their training track, with several competitors taking part in the CFA/Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria State Firefighters Championships in Mooroopna.

The championships take place over two weekends with the juniors competing on March 18-19 and the seniors on March 25-26.

Euroa CFA fielded four junior teams, putting their firefighting skills to the test.

One of Euroa brigade’s junior teams won the under 14 aggregate and they also placed third in the Grand Aggregate.

Euroa competitor Addison Godsmark took out several events in the under 14s, placing third in the Hydrant event with 10.82 seconds and first in the Marshall event with 28.65 seconds.

There were also several junior team events who placed in the following events:

  • Wet Hose Striking Second Disc (Four Competitors), Under 14 Years | 4th Euroa A (Addison Godsmark, Matilda Kubeil, Kobee Mann, Zahara Johns), 20.57 seconds
  • Wet Hose Striking 1st & 2nd Discs (Four Competitors) Under 14 Years | 1st Euroa A (Addison Godsmark, Matilda Kubeil, Kobee Mann, Zhara Johns) 20.12 seconds & 5th Euroa C (Will Mann, Tyler Delahey, Mischa Boyd, Charlie Tracey) 24.51 seconds
  • Marshall (Two Competitors), Under 14 Years | 1st Euroa A (Addison Godsmark and Matilda Kubeil) 18.85 seconds
  • Wet Hose (Two Competitors), Under 14 Years | 1st Euroa A (Addison Godsmark and Matilda Kubeil) 12.22 seconds
  • Y Coupling (Four Competitors), Under 14 Years | 3rd Euroa A (Addison Godsmark, Matilda Kubeil, Kobee Mann, Zahara Johns) 11.48 seconds
  • Wet Hose Striking One Disc Twice (Four Competitors), Under 14 Years | 2nd Euroa A (Addison Godsmark, Matilda Kubeil, Kobee Mann, Zahara Johns) 17.46 seconds

The senior event was held the following weekend on March 25 and 26 and the Euroa CFA took out first place in the female aggregate for the second consecutive year which means they have won both years the female events have been running.

The seniors results were as follows:

  • Female Marshall (One Competitor) | 1st Euroa (Teagan Kubeil) 31.29 seconds
  • Female Marshall (Two Competitors) 1st Euroa (Teagan Kubeil, Amelia Delahey) 19.40 seconds

The Euroa Brigade also competed in the Touch Light Parade coming home with 86 per cent.

Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Laura Binks congratulated the team on their efforts.

“Council recently awarded Euroa CFA $8,500 in the 2022/23 Budget,” Cr Binks said.

“The grant was used to repair their firefighting championships training track.

“We are so pleased to see the results from the recent State Urban Firefighting Championships. Congratulations to the Euroa CFA for its incredible efforts – not only when it comes to competition, but also ensuring our community is protected.”
