Film music supervisor to appear at Cinema
Moonrock for Monday is coming to the Euroa Community Cinema featuring a meet and greet with the film composer and music supervisor Pru Montin.
The film follows the story of Monday – a nine-year old girl home-schooled by her father Bob in Sydney. Due to her terminal illness, Monday’s only contact with the outside world is her weekly visit to the hospital.
Monday’s imagination is captured by the Moon Rock (Uluru) which she believes will heal her and desires to travel to the middle of Australia to find it. By a twist of fate, she becomes caught up in a police chase involving Tyler – a street kid with a massive heart. Tyler uses Monday to evade the police, but despite the circumstances they soon form a friendship.
They decide to go on the run, road tripping to the Northern Territory to find the Moon Rock. Along the way they meet a cast of outback characters, some helpful and some not so. Meanwhile, Bob is desperately trying to track his daughter down before Detective Lionell and the police – who are out for blood. It all culminates in a gripping finale set in the heart of Australia, and a heart-warming end to a touching journey of friendship.
Pru Montin is an Australian-born, LA-based composer and sound designer.
Pru has fast become a sought-after collaborator having worked with Hollywood composer’s Cliff Martinez (The Neon Demon, Drive), Adam Peters (Icarus, Snowden) and Andrew Hewitt (The Double).
She has also collaborated with acclaimed directors Mary Lambert (Pet Sematary, Like a Virgin) and was sound designer on Richard Elfman’s latest cult film Aliens, Clowns and Geeks.
When she isn’t composing or sound designing, Pru continues to work on her full sized interactive music game myOrchestra, an exploration into creating an environment that uses gesture to compose through the conductor-like control of an orchestra using timbre, structure and dynamics as its main parameters which was initially funded by the Australian Film Television and Radio school in 2012.
Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Chris Raeburn said Council looked forward to the screenings this month.
“We are excited to have Pru appearing at both screenings to deliver a talk and a live performance of one of the songs from the film,” he said.
