Join us at Shadforth Reserve, Violet Town on Sunday, 25 May for a vibrant community celebration of Reconciliation Week, honouring Indigenous culture, our shared environment, and the joy of fishing.
This free, family-friendly event is a chance to come together on Country and deepen our understanding of First Nations culture through hands-on activities, cultural performances, and community connection.
The day will begin with a traditional Welcome to Country in Yorta Yorta language, followed by a smoking ceremony and cultural dance. There’ll be spear throwing and artifact displays with cultural educators, arts and crafts workshops, and a cultural burn demonstration exploring traditional land care practices.
The dams will be freshly stocked, with a guided fishing experience led by a Burnanga Guide, and free rods and tackle provided by Fisheries Victoria.
Enjoy live music, food trucks, art displays, and explore stalls from Goulburn Broken CMA, GV Water, Vic Fisheries, Landcare, and Field & Game.
Whether you’re casting a line, learning something new, or just soaking up the atmosphere – there’s something for everyone.
