Enjoy a ‘Sausage by the Sevens’ and chat with Rockies Footbridge engineers

Construction of the new suspension bridge over the Rockies on the Sevens Creek at Euroa is well underway and residents can learn more about the construction process on Saturday 4 June, 2022 from 10am to noon.

Last week the steel piles were driven into the creek bed and banks where the bridge foundations will be located.

The reinforced concrete foundations will then be cast on the piles next week.

The suspension bridge will be supported on the specially designed steel frames embedded into these foundations.

Strathbogie Shire Mayor Cr Laura Binks said it’s exciting to watch the progress of the suspension bridge across the Sevens Creek.

“This has been a community driven project and we invite the community to be involved in our Sausage by the Sevens, Cr Binks said.

“The construction will not be completed by that time, but it will be a chance to talk to the engineers and learn the intricacies of constructing this suspension bridge.

“The bridge will provide a connection to the Apex Community walking track with the new bridge providing two-way all abilities access over the Sevens,” Cr Binks said.

Funding of over $560k was provided by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications for the project.

Works are expected to be completed in mid-June.
