Rates notices on the way

25 Aug 2022

Strathbogie Shire Council will distribute the 2022/2023 Rates Notices in coming days.

This year Council adopted a rate cap of 1.75 per cent in the average rate per property, which is under the State Government’s ‘Fair Go Rates’ legislation.

Individual property rate changes will vary and may be higher or lower than the rate cap depending on how individual property values have moved in comparison to the average property value in the Strathbogie Shire.

More information on rates valuations can be found on our fact sheet.

Your rates allow for maintenance of existing service levels, funding new initiatives and the allocation of sufficient funds for the continuing strategic renewal of Council’s infrastructure.

Wherever you look, you’ll see your rates at work making our municipality a better place to live now and into the future.

We’ve also worked hard to make it easier to manage payments. You can:

  • Pay by four instalments
  • You can pay your rates in full at any time
  • All other payment methods can be found on your rate notice

You can also receive your rate notice electronically

  • Receive your rate notice via email by registering at strathbogie.enotices.com.au . This will also create an account and you will be able to view previous years’ rates notices
  • Apply through your online banking to receive your rate notices via BPAY View. Go to bpay.com.au/Personal/Receive-bills  for more information.

We understand things can get tough sometimes.

If you are having trouble paying your rates, please contact our Rates Department on 1800 065 993 to talk through some options with you. Payment arrangements can be made to suit your budget.

Can I object to my property valuation?

Property Valuations are independently undertaken by the Valuer General’s Department each year and these values are used to calculate your rates.

You can object to your valuation within 60 days of receiving your rates notice.

This can be done through the Valuer General’s online portal, which can be found at Object to rating valuation – Home (ratingvaluationobjections.vic.gov.au) or by requesting a hard copy form, which you can request from us by calling our Customer Service team.

Please remember that you must pay your rate instalments as they appear on your rates notice until a decision has been made on your objection to avoid penalty interest being charged.
