Roadside Firewood Collection permits no longer available from Council

Strathbogie Shire Council can no longer offer roadside firewood collection permits.

For those seeking firewood there are several areas in our region managed by Forest Fire Management in which firewood collection is permitted during Autumn.

Permits are not required to collect firewood in Forest Fire management area, but timeframes and regulations must be adhered to. You can find more information here.

The decision to remove the availability of Council’s roadside permits comes after a recommendation from the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) who raised concerns with the risks associated with roadside firewood collection.
