About the Role:
Working collaboratively with the community, the Senior Community Development Officer designs and delivers impactful development programs that foster inclusion, strengthen local connections, and enhance overall wellbeing.
This role actively supports broad participation from diverse community members, stakeholders, groups, and organisations in shaping key Council projects, strategies, policies, and plans. The role also plays a vital part in building and nurturing sustainable partnerships between residents, businesses, community groups, agencies, and government to drive positive and collaborative community outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and facilitate partnership opportunities with the community, service providers, community groups and the State and Federal Governments to support social inclusion and equitable access to economic, social, cultural and civic participation opportunities for the community.
- Provide key liaison point for community groups and support community development.
- Provide excellent customer service to all areas of Council, community and other external stakeholders including responding in a timely manner to community requests for assistance and information with respect to the department and Council activities.
- Prepare briefing papers and Council reports relevant to the role for the Executive Leadership Team and Councillors as required.

- Proven ability to consult with, and influence a range of stakeholders in the community, government, and corporate sectors.
- Demonstrated project management skills and ability to develop work plans and timelines, and to implement and complete these successfully.
- The ability to relate to community organisations and individuals within those organisations in a way that appreciates their aspirations while ensuring Council’s objectives are met.
