About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and community-focused Compliance Officer, focussing on Animal Management & Local Laws to join our team. This role plays a critical part in protecting public safety, promoting responsible animal ownership, and ensuring compliance with Council’s local laws.
The role is responsible for enforcing legislation and local laws relating primarily to animal management, while also supporting broader local law compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enforcing the Domestic Animals Act and relevant Local Laws.
- Responding to animal management issues, complaints, and investigations.
- Conducting patrols, inspections, and follow-up actions.
- Preparing reports, briefs, and compliance documentation.
- Issuing warnings, infringement notices, and taking enforcement action where required.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in compliance, animal management, local laws, or regulatory enforcement.
- Sound knowledge of animal management legislation and local laws (or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge).
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- The ability to work autonomously and make balanced, defensible decisions.
