Have your say on Council’s Draft Playground and Open Space Strategy 2023

19 May 2023

Council is seeking your ideas for playgrounds and open spaces in Strathbogie Shire.

Community members are encouraged to share their thoughts on what you think makes a fantastic playground and open space via Share Strathbogie.

It comes after the development of the Draft Playground and Open Space Strategy 2023 by JF Studio.

It is just the first opportunity to have your say – there’ll be lots of chances along the way as we engage on the document with a staged approach.

“Firstly, we’ll be sliding from the top of the slippery dip – calling on the entire community to share their ideas and inspire Council,” Strathbogie Shire Mayor Cr Laura Binks said.

“Then it’ll be a matter of balancing the seesaw and ensuring we give all key user groups the opportunity for further targeted input – we’ll go out to groups such as students and our interested Community Panel members for further input into the strategy.

“We want this process to be a lot like a merry-go-round – the more people that jump on and provide feedback, the more momentum the strategy will gain.

“Finally, it’s about the swing approach – a two-way communication process between Council and the community to determine the best outcomes and future direction for our playgrounds and open spaces.”

“Whether it’s a photo, a link to something inspiring, text or even a video – share your ideas and inspire us.

“You can also get your child to draw a picture of what they would like to see in their local parks and drop it off at one of our survey stations in Avenel, Euroa, Longwood, Violet Town, Strathbogie and Ruffy.

“Strathbogie Shire Council is committed to providing playgrounds and open spaces to enhance the health, wellbeing and social connectedness of our community.”
