Strathbogie Shire Council has today released its Draft Council Plan 2021/25, which incorporates the Community Vision, for community consultation.

The Draft Council Plan 2021/25 is a four-year plan that outlines key strategies and initiatives to be delivered during the current Council term to work towards the vision

This year Strathbogie Shire Council’s plan incorporates the four-year Municipal Health and Welling Plan that includes priorities and goals to improve residents’ health and wellbeing.

Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Chris Raeburn said the draft plan was a result of more than eight months of intensive community engagement to ensure community input into every step of its development.

“We’re working hard to improve our communications and engagement practice to build confidence and trust in what we do,” Cr Raeburn said.

“We know, working with our community will mean we can achieve great things. Our goal is a shared vision, a common direction, a united community.

“With people power we can ensure our Shire – the place we already know is unbelievably special – is even better.”

The Community Vision was developed by the Strathbogie Shire Community Panel.

The panel was an independently recruited, representative panel, that met for three consecutive Sundays during July/August to develop the Community Vision as set the direction for the Draft Council Plan.

The Community Vision is:

The Strathbogie Shire is a region of natural beauty with vibrant communities who are respectful, optimistic and inclusive.

We have a strong sense of belonging and of our collective history. We care deeply for Country and First Nations people.

We are bold. We embrace opportunities. We welcome you.

“This was the first time our Council used deliberative engagement practices and we’re extremely proud of the outcome,” Cr Raeburn said.

“Through this process we are implementing the Community Vision set by the panel and we’ve incorporated their advice and recommendations to the maximum extent possible.

“We are immensely proud of our 2021-2025 Council Plan. We are confident it is brave, but achievable. We hope you are share our belief.”

Council also resolved to release its 10-year Financial Plan for community consultation at its meeting on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.
