Visit the beautiful Wetlands View Restaurant at historic Tahbilk Winery.
After a light lunch, two experts will describe the explorers journies through our Shire: Hume & Hovell in 1824 and Major Mitchell in 1836. Drone footage of the nearby Crossing Place and the Major’s Line will accompany Greg Ecclestone’s talk on Mitchell. Ken McIness will bring the Hume and Hovell expedition to life. The bar (drinks at bar prices) and self serve juice, tea and coffee will open at 11am.
Prior to lunch, Councillor Reg Dickinson will launch the Explorers Way tourist drive brochure – a project of Nagambie Historical Society in collaboration with the Strathbogie Shire.
The drive is designed to encompass most of the Shire, in the steps of the explorers. $30 includes lunch.
This event is part of Australian Heritage Festival 2023 promoted by the National Trust.
The normally private museum will be opened for us after 2pm. Cellar door hours are unchanged.
