Dogs to run free in official leash free park
Euroa’s pooches will be running, chasing and playing together at the town’s official leash free dog park.
Strathbogie Shire Council last night voted to officially declare the dog park at the Euroa Showgrounds.
The dog park will allow dog owners to exercise their pets without the need for a leash.
Mayor, Cr Chris Raeburn, said it was great news for the community who had long been advocating for an off-leash area.
“There are so many benefits to off-leash dog parks – both for dogs and their owners,” Cr Raeburn said.
“They provide the opportunity for dogs to exercise, socialise, practice training, play and just generally burn off energy.
“We’re excited that these benefits are now available to local dog lovers.”
The news was welcomed by local veterinarian, Dr Callie Burnett of Ace Vet Hospital Euroa.
“Dogs that are exercised regularly and well socialised are likely to be happier and healthier,” Dr Burnett said.
The park is expected to open in coming weeks.
