Council Endorses Advocacy Strategy 2025–2029
At its September 16 meeting, Strathbogie Shire Council endorsed the Advocacy Strategy 2025–2029, setting a clear agenda to strengthen the Shire’s voice and secure outcomes for the community over the next four years.
The Strategy outlines Council’s priority issues—ranging from reliable power and expanded digital infrastructure, to climate resilience, local road safety upgrades, and the future of key projects such as Greening Euroa and the Nagambie Industrial Freight Bypass.
Strathbogie Shire Mayor, Claire Ewart-Kennedy, said the Strategy is an important step in ensuring Council can advocate effectively to State and Federal governments on behalf of its community.
“Advocacy is a core responsibility of local government. This Strategy gives us a stronger, unified voice to champion both the long-term challenges and the immediate needs of our community. It ensures we can focus our efforts, build partnerships, and pursue opportunities that make a real difference,” Mayor Ewart-Kennedy said.
Developed following a Councillor workshop and informed by extensive community engagement through the Council Plan 2025–2029 and Community Vision 2035, the Strategy is designed to be responsive and adaptable as needs and opportunities evolve.
A unifying theme, “Investing in Tomorrow,” will underpin Council’s advocacy efforts, reinforcing the balance between addressing urgent local issues and preparing for the Shire’s long-term future.
Mayor Ewart-Kennedy said the Strategy provides the clarity and structure needed to allocate resources effectively.
“By setting clear priorities, Council is better placed to secure funding, shape decisions, and deliver for the community. This Strategy is not a static document—it will evolve with emerging needs and opportunities,” the Mayor said.
The Advocacy Strategy 2025–2029 is now available on Council’s website.
