Council continues flood recovery operations

Council is continuing to work through assessments following the October 2022 flooding event which affected many parts of Strathbogie Shire.

Aside from the extensive road network that was damaged during the floods, Council also sustained damage to some of its infrastructure assets.

“These included our boat shed and ranger’s hut at the Nagambie Regatta Centre, Euroa Bowling and Croquet Clubrooms, the Euroa RSL and Third Age Club, Euroa Miniature Railway, Euroa Caravan Park,” said Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Laura Binks.

“Assessments have taken place on local roads and infrastructure that were impacted by the floods,” she said.

“We have predominantly completed cleaning up roads and removing flood-affected materials from Council’s assets.

“We also recently went out to tender for a number of rectification works and we hope to award these contracts in mid-April with the works to follow on from that.”

Cr Binks thanked residents for their patience during the recovery period as the entire Goulburn Valley region grapples with the affects of the flooding event.

“We would like to remind residents to continue to drive to the conditions when using our road network,” she said.

“Please be safe and wary of the current road conditions which were extensively damaged during the October 2022 floods.”
