What is all the construction works happening around Avenel?

“¢ Ewing’s Road and Livingstone Street

UPDATE 16/06 – Unfortunately, road works have been delayed for the Ewings Road/Livingstone street corner upgrade due to rain last week and the pending inclement weather this week making it difficult for construction resurfacing.

The construction at the corner of Ewing’s Road and Livingstone Street has been delayed due the original Telstra cables been laid in Asbestos casing. This material was required to be removed by registered Asbestos Hygienist team.
It is unfortunate there has been delays but we must ensure our contractor can work in a safe environment. Contractors are back onsite; the new corner works are scheduled for completion by 6 June subject to any inclement weather.

“¢ Murchison Road and Bank Street 
Construction on drainage works along Murchison Road and Bank Street are well ahead of schedule. Works are on schedule to be completed by mid-June now.

“¢ Ewing’s Road (from Queen Street to Vearing’s Road)
Roadworks are being undertaken to fix the shoulders on both sides of Ewing’s Road (from Queen Street to Vearing’s Road).
This will widen the road and provide safe vehicle passing.
It is expected that this will be completed – weather permitting – by mid-July.

“¢ Upton Road 
Two old culverts are being replaced and it was necessary to close the road for through traffic.
We expect construction to be completed by mid-June weather permitting.

These works were all allocated in the 2020-21 budget.

Please note: Works in Queen Street for the VLine bus shelter is a PTV project.

We regret any inconvenience to our Avenel residents but each of these projects when completed will be provide for a safer Avenel.
