An administrator appointed to Strathbogie Shire Council
An interim administrator has today been appointed to Strathbogie Shire Council to replace the elected members of Council.
Peter Stephenson has been appointed by the Minister for Local Government, Melissa Horne. His appointment is an interim position and will start tomorrow.
This follows the suspension of Strathbogie Shire Council Councillors under the Local Government Act 2020.
An administrator will remain in place until the 2024 Council election.
Strathbogie Shire Council CEO Julie Salomon said the organisation is committed to the community and officers would continue to focus on delivering the services provided by Local Government.
She said she was proud the organisation had continued to deliver during challenging circumstances.
“Over the last four years, we have delivered on the initiatives and actions within the Council Plan in partnership with our community,” she said.
“We’ve delivered new playgrounds and upgrades in Avenel, Creighton’s Creek and the Nagambie Skate Park and Youth Space and a new splash park in Nagambie.
“Saved $2 million on the Violet Town Landfill redevelopment after successfully applying to have the site classified as low risk.
“Delivered infrastructure upgrades including the Rockies Footbridge, the Nagambie Foreshore Path, streetscape works, a Graytown toilet and more.
“Overhauled the Community Grants Model to better meet the community’s needs and launched the Pitch My Project initiative and funded about 30 projects and so much more.
“On top of all this, we have streamlined Planning processes, significantly improved our youth and community services delivery and our parks and gardens always recognised for their upkeep.
“In the next 12 months, we will continue to deliver the actions within the Council Plan.”
