Find resources and support for business recovery following the January 2026 Longwood Bushfire.

Local business survey

Strathbogie Shire Council is asking local businesses affected by the Longwood bushfire to share how they’ve been impacted. This short survey will help Council to:
• identify businesses that may need immediate support
• advocate for state and federal recovery assistance
• prioritise local recovery actions.
It only takes around five to seven minutes to complete.
All responses are confidential and reported in aggregate.
Your input will help ensure support reaches businesses where it’s needed most
Livestock support

Emergency fodder is being made available for farmers in fire-affected areas.

Call Agriculture Victoria on 1800 226 226 if you have urgent animal welfare needs.

Agriculture Victoria are a Victorian Government Department responsible for legislation, protection, industry support and information relating to farmers, agri-business and animal welfare.

Farmers can report livestock and property impacts, and access information on emergency fodder and carcass disposal via the Agriculture Victoria website

Affected farmers and property owners - Reporting

If fires have affected your property, including dead or injured animals, crop loss or damage, or fodder and water needs, you can report it online. Your information will help us report on recovery and decide what support you need.

Collecting this information is a critical step in enabling Council to advocate to other levels of government for the resources needed to support recovery and rebuilding. We encourage businesses to keep Council informed of their needs as we move forward together.

Making temporary re-establishment/buildings easier for business

When a bushfire destroys your home or business premises, getting temporary accommodation or workspace in place quickly can make a huge difference to your recovery.

Clause 52.07 of the planning scheme is designed to help by allowing temporary buildings to be set up on your land without the need for a planning permit. While this streamlines the process, there are still important requirements to follow to ensure safety and compliance.
