Respect Victoria 16 Days of Activism campaign taking place throughout Strathbogie Shire

Council is supporting Respect Victoria’s 16 Days of Activism campaign: Respect Women: ‘Call It Out’ from 25 November to 10 December.

The campaign aims to support the Strathbogie Shire community in understanding what respect means, what it looks like, and how to put it into practice in their everyday lives.

Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Laura Binks said by taking part in the campaign, Council can support our communities to understand what gender equality looks like and how striving for equality can prevent violence against women.

“When gender equality exists, we all benefit,” Cr Binks said.

“We hope the 16 Days of Activism campaign inspires action and encourages community members to embrace the types of behaviours and actions that represent and personify respect.”

As part of Council’s participation in the campaign, you will notice orange cut outs placed throughout the community spreading messages of respect. You can scan the QR code on these cut outs to access Council’s online materials regarding the campaign.

“My fellow Councillors and I, as well as a selection of Council staff, have shared what respect looks and feels like to us,” Cr Binks said.

“We will be sharing these on our social media and web channels over the course of the campaign, however, we are also encouraging our community to share in these conversations too.
