Celebrate Children’s Week with a variety of activities

30 Sep 2022

UPDATE: Please note the Euroa and Nagambie Family Fun Days have been postponed.

Children of all ages are invited to attend Council’s free Children’s Week activities this October in Euroa and Nagambie.

Two family fun days will be held in the townships on Sunday 30 October, 2022 from 9.30am to 11.30am in Nagambie and 1.30pm to 3.30pm in Euroa.

Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Laura Binks said there were many activities on offer at the events.

“Our all-ages activities include getting creative with recycled materials, seeing inside a real recycling truck, and designing your own reusable mug,” she said.

“We have some activities targeted at the little ones from four years and older which include learning about what should and shouldn’t be flushed down the toilet and learning how to look after worms in your home.

“For the bigger kids, aged seven years and over, we will have a recycled textile workshop where they can make cat and dog toys from recycled materials.”

Bookings are not essential for these free events but it is encouraged to book to secure your place using the following links: https://www.trybooking.com/CBQXM (Nagambie event) and https://www.trybooking.com/CBQXQ (Euroa event).

In addition to the family fun day, Council is hosting two screenings of children’s animation film DC League of Super-Pets (PG) at the Euroa Community Cinema on October 28 and 29, 2022.

“We have an evening screening at 6.30pm on Friday October 28 and our popular sensory screening from 11am on October 29 where the lights are kept on and the volume is turned down to a lower level,” Cr Binks said.

“We are looking forward to hosting these fun-filled events across the Shire which will provide engaging and educational opportunities for kids as well.”

“The theme for this year’s Children’s Week is that all children have the right to a standard of living that supports their wellbeing and healthy development and we at Strathbogie Shire Council strongly support this message.”

An online activity, conducted by a Council Maternal Child Health staff member, is also available to do via Council’s website whenever you wish.

“It is a great craft activity that can be done whenever it suits yourself and your child to do so – the perfect rainy day thing to keep you busy or just a nice bonding activity during a quiet moment.”
