L2P Learner Driver Program

L2P Learner Driver Program

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program, run by Shepparton-based family service organisation Berry Street in conjunction with Strathbogie Shire Council, is temporarily on hold.

This is to help protect the volunteers, many of whom fall in the vulnerable category for this illness.
Subsidised private lessons with driving instructors will soon be available as an alternative. If you are interested in finding out more regarding the private subsidised lessons for learner drivers in the registers with the L2P program please contact Bill Winters at Berry Street on (03) 5822 8100.

About the program:

The VicRoads L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program assists learners under 21 years of age, who do not have access to a supervising driver or vehicle, to gain the driving experience required to apply for a probationary licence. Young people are matched with fully licensed volunteer mentors and have access to use a sponsored vehicle to gain supervised driving experience. L2P is free for eligible young people and is funded by the TAC.
The program does not substitute for professional driving lessons, and L2P does not pay for the probationary driving test itself.
