Have Your Say – Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme

The Victorian Government is introducing a container deposit scheme (CDS) in 2023 to increase beverage container recycling and reduce litter in Victoria.

Under the scheme when empty beverage containers such as small plastic and glass bottles or aluminium cans are returned to a refund collection point, a cash refund will be provided for each container returned.

Views on the proposed design of Victoria’s container deposit scheme and how it should operate are now being sought. Key design choices such as how a deposit is received, the types of eligible containers and refund collection infrastructure will influence how the CDS will operate. This is your opportunity to have a say so that the scheme best suits your needs.
