Greening the greens at Nagambie Golf Club

4 Jan 2024

Members and visitors at Nagambie Golf Club will experience a notable improvement in the condition of the greens this summer, thanks to the recent installation of a new fully automated irrigation pump.

The new pump efficiently provides reticulated water through sprinklers, to half the course ensuring that those fairways and greens remain conveniently playable during the warmer, dryer months.

A $10,000 Pitch My Project grant from the Strathbogie Shire, directed towards the pump’s cost, has replaced an aging unit that consumed an excessive amount of power.

Club President Jeff Lodding expressed great satisfaction with the recent pump installation, emphasising the positive impact it will now have on the power savings and the work of the club volunteers.

“The Club members are very pleased because this is just the first stage of the upgrade of the whole watering system that will benefit our members and our many golfing visitors who are holidaying in the area,” added Mr Lodding.

Strathbogie Shire Administrator Peter Stephenson highlighted the value of Pitch My Project grants, providing an ideal opportunity for community groups to attain much-needed extras.

‘Since the launch of the initiative, the Council has proudly funded over 30 innovative ideas from the community,’ he said.

Council is currently inviting residents to pitch their projects for consideration in the 2024/25 Pitch My Project budget. Details for submission can be found on Council’s Share Strathbogie engagement hub, with an application deadline of 5pm on Friday, 23 February 2024.
