All premises trading in food must be registered with Council. This is a legal requirement under the Food Act 1984 (Vic) and premises can be fined if found to be trading without registering with or notifying Council prior to trading commencing.
Class 1, 2 and 3 Food Premises are the highest risk classes, these require annual registration with Council. Class 4 Food Premises are the lowest risk rating, these incur no fees but still require notification given to Council.
