Business' trading in food require a risk classification which is determined by what type of food is being sold and the amount of preparation and handling involved. A registration fee is calculated by the Class of the business.
Examples of Food premises and their risk;
Class 1 (High Risk) – hospitals, child care centres and aged care services.
Class 2 – other premises that handle high risk food, unpackaged food.
Class 3 – unpackaged low risk food or pre-packaged high risk food, warehouses and distributors
Class 4 (Low Risk) – Pre packaged low risk food such as confectionery, milk. Eg. Bottle shops, news agencies, pharmacies
