Have your say on possible resale shops at Council’s Transfer Stations

Strathbogie Shire Council is seeking community input to include in a feasibility study into the introduction of a resale shop at one or more of its Transfer Stations.

Council received a $10,000 Recycling Victoria Councils Fund grant from the Victorian Government through Sustainability Victoria to conduct the study.

JustWaste Consulting have been appointed by Council to conduct the feasibility study which will include feedback provided through community engagement.

Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Laura Binks encouraged community members and interested groups to complete the survey and provide their feedback.

“We are eager to hear from members of our community, as well as community and charity groups within our Shire, about how these resale shops may look, and how they will be operated,” Cr Binks said.

“Importantly, the study needs to explore various management models. This may include the operations of any resale shop being managed by Council, a local community group or charity organisation, or a hybrid model.”

Cr Binks said to keep an eye out on Council’s social media and news platforms for future opportunities to engage in face-to-face drop-in sessions with JustWaste Consulting and Council staff.

“We are eager to run these sessions which will be dependent on border restrictions due to travel commitments from those involved,” Cr Binks said.

The study will provide Council with an in-depth analysis of the challenges and opportunities of introducing the best value-for-money approach to installing a resale shop.

This project is supported by the Recycling Victoria Councils Fund, delivered by Sustainability Victoria on behalf of the Victorian Government.
