Violet Town police officer honoured


Violet Town’s solo police officer Leading Senior Constable Pat Storer was recently awarded the prestigious Australian Police Medal,and was very quick to throw the praise straight back on the community he serves.
“The support the community here give me cannot be underestimated,’’ he said.
“They embrace me in the community, and we have a great rapport.
“I was very proud to receive this award from the Governor General, they do not hand many out.
“The award is handed out not for the length of your career but what you have achieved in that time, so my community involvement must have caught their attention.
“It will have been received for the things I have achieved in policing in Violet Town, Shepparton and Kyabram.’’
Senior Constable Storer has been with Victoria police for 41 years and has manned the Violet Town post as its only officer for the past 11 years.
He started as a police officer in Melbourne in the 1980’s, worked in Shepparton for 12 years and then Kyabram before moving to Violet Town.
He recently completed a four-year term as a councillor with Strathbogie Shire Council, which he enjoyed as he was giving back to the community in a different capacity.
“The award reflects on the community and we have such a great community participation here,’’ he said.
“The community assist me which means I can do my police work thoroughly.’’
Senior Constable Storer is married to Kate, with whom he has three children as well as grandchildren.
