Keep informed about Inland Rail Project in Euroa

Friday, 6 July, 2018

The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is holding an information session to talk to the Euroa community about the Tottenham to Albury Inland Rail Project.

ARTC is currently in the planning phase of the project, which will see the enhancement of existing structures and increased height clearances along the rail corridor to allow for the use of double stacked freight trains of 1,800m in length to be run on the track.

Inland Rail is a strategic investment that will:

  • Create a new direct freight link through eastern Australia
  • Connect farms, mines, cities and ports to global markets
  • Boost the economies of our regions and our nation as a whole; and
  • Deliver a freight network that will serve Australia for the next century

There are 63 sites where works need to be undertaken, and one such site is the Anderson Street Bridge in Euroa.

They are currently looking at options to modify the Anderson Street Bridge to provide the clearance required for the passage of the double-stacked container freight trains.

Strathbogie Shire Council encourages anyone living or working in Euroa and surrounding areas to come along to talk with ARTC about what this may mean for you and your community and have the opportunity to provide feedback on planning undertaken to date.

ARTC will be set up on Brock Street next to Burton’s IGA, near the corner of Binney Street on Thursday, 12 July from 10am-1pm.

Register to stay up to date about the project on ARTC’s website at inlandrail.com.au.
