During a time of disaster, it's not unusual to want to lend a helping hand as a volunteer.
At this stage it is important to stay away from affected areas. The emergency relief effort is in full swing and emergency services personnel are busy responding to immediate threats, assessing damage and deciding on the best course of relief action.
If you wish to help with the relief and recovery of communities affected by the recent bushfires, please visit the Volunteering Victoria site for further details - Volunteering in an Emergency.
Once you are on the register, you may be contacted in relation to providing assistance, as specific activities or projects are identified. Don’t feel unwanted or discouraged if you cannot help straight away, the clean-up and recovery efforts will be a long and complex process.
Strathbogie Shire Council welcomes feedback from its residents and will endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible.
