Strengthen Strathbogie

Strathbogie Shire is located in the Hume Region, approximately 90 minutes from Melbourne. It is comprised of the diverse townships of Avenel, Euroa, Longwood, Nagambie, Strathbogie and Violet Town. The shire covers over 3,300 square kilometres and has a population of over 10,000 people.

The Strathbogie Shire has a strong agricultural economic base, with a rapidly growing tourism sector. This is complemented by recent urban industrial and residential development.

Strathbogie Shire Council is punching well above its weight, particularly when it comes to financial security and strategic planning. However, to further attract residents, visitors and investment to our shire, Strathbogie requires the basic infrastructure and services that are available in metropolitan areas.

We need funding for basic services and infrastructure that will make our shire and regional Victoria more liveable and allow for decentralisation from Melbourne out across the state.

Strathbogie Shire as part of the 2017-2021 Council Plan have committed to advocate to State and Federal Government on behalf of our communities in the following areas. Each year residents can input their ideas into these advocacy areas via the Budget and Council Plan Submissions, usually May-June, for more information please contact Council or your local ward Councillor.

Please note these Strengthen Strathbogie documents are living documents and may be subject to change.
