Nagambie Splash Park information and FAQs
The Nagambie Splash Park opened on Saturday February 4, 2023, for all to enjoy. The $1 million splash park – situated in Buckley Park – includes a variety of fun play equipment selected by the community through Strathbogie Shire Council’s extensive engagement program. The splash park provides a fantastic water play space for children, with something for children of all ages to enjoy. We have prepared the following FAQs to provide our community with more information:
Why are there changes to opening hours?
Our aim is to run the splash park for 12 hours each day during the summer period. However, we’re running into trouble refilling the tank. The water pressure does not allow us to fill the
tank quickly enough to continue running the water park for a 12-hour period.
What are you doing to fix this?
We’ve ordered another water tank which will ensure enough water to run the splash park for 12 hours each day. While we don’t have a timeframe as yet – we’re working with our contractors to have this rectified ASAP.
What are the opening hours in the meantime?
It’s very likely opening hours will continue to change dependent on the weather. From Monday, February 13 the splash park will be open from 12noon to 6pm, 7 days a week.
How can we check the opening hours?
It’s a great idea to check the opening hours before you leave home. We will keep our website at www.strathbogie.vic.gov.au updated and we’ll use our social media channels to share
information. Council will put a sign at the splash park with the opening hours. You can also check out the Wacky Splash & Play Nagambie Facebook page.
Is the splash park supervised?
Nagambie Splash Park is an unsupervised facility. An employed lifeguard is not required at the site, however, every four hours the water must be tested, and the site inspected. If you see a lifeguard at the site, this is why they are present – they are not there to keep an eye on your children. Please read our conditions of use sign before using the splash park as there are some
important things to note. We want our community to have fun, while looking after themselves and others.
A further message from Council
Council asks for the community’s patience as we work through these issues. We would like to remind splash park users to be kind, patient and respectful always. Perhaps the best way to think about it, is modelling your behaviour, to the behaviour you would like your children or grandchildren to exhibit.
We reserve the right to close the facility at any time, in particular when staff feel unsafe.
