Have your say: Public art in Strathbogie Shire

25 Oct 2022

Strathbogie Shire Council is seeking input from the community about the type and location of public art in our townships.

The call for feedback follows the adoption of Council’s Public Art Policy at its September Council Meeting.

The policy provides a clear and transparent process for assessing and making decisions about the design, placement, and preservation of art in public spaces in Strathbogie Shire.

Strathbogie Shire Council adopted the new policy following significant calls came from the community for more public art.

It also follows 2022/23 Budget allocation of $20,000 through the Pitch My Project initiative for public art in Euroa.

“We love and understand our community’s passion for public art,” Mayor, Cr Laura Binks, said.

“Public art can express community values, enhance our environment, transform a landscape, heighten our awareness, or question our assumptions.

“Placed in public sites, this art is there for everyone, a form of collective community expression.”

Council is now calling for the community to share its thoughts, feedback and advice on possible locations and types of public art right across our Shire.

To do this head to www.share.www.strathbogie.vic.gov.au and drop a pin on the map to show your location preference.

“The community is also asked to share any images, or videos of the type of public art they would like to see,” she said.

“We are excited to work with our community to deliver public art that makes a difference in our community and our public spaces.”

The feedback period will be open for six weeks, closing at 9am on Monday, November 21.
