Power-boating & Water-skiing

Power-boating, Personal Water Craft (PWCs) & Water-skiing

Lake Nagambie and waterways provide habitats for a variety of marine, bird and animal species.  Operators of power-boats are encouraged to use this waterway in a responsible and safe manner; respecting these species, observing the appropriate speed zones, and considering the needs of other user groups.

For further information on boat operator licencing contact Maritime Safety Victoria on 1800 223 022 (option 1).

Water skiing

Water skiing is only permitted on nominated waters (see waterway map).  Boat operators should take care on these waters as they may encounter boats travelling at low speed, resulting in the need to slow to 5 knots within 50 metres of the other boat.

A 6km exclusive water ski zone is located on the Goulburn River downstream of Tahbilk Wines.  While the zone permits boats engaged in water skiing to pass closer than 50 metres to another water ski boat when it is safe to do so, speed must be reduced to 5 knots when within 50 metres of any other boats at all times.
