| Strathbogie Shire Council is currently undertaking the Farming Zone Review Project. This project is required to ensure that the most appropriate land use zoning is applied to Rural Areas within the Strathbogie Shire.
The consultant team that includes Parsons Brinckerhoff and RM Consulting Group completed five community workshops during late September and early October 2008. Attendance at the community sessions were well attended with 104 people participating across the Shire, with average meeting sizes being 20 people across all meetings.
Following the consultation period the consultant team has prepared an Issues and Options Report that will inform the development of a Rural Areas Review. The Issues & Options Report outlines the existing context of the shire with reference to:
* Planning Policy * Application of rural zones * Agricultural activity and value * Non-agricultural activities in rural areas * Environmental & Cultural values; and, * Results from the community consultation & engagement.
The Issues & Options Report goes on to outline requirements for further research and preliminary recommendations to inform the detailed assessment of rural land use planning across the Strathbogie Shire.
