| Role of the Municipal Building Surveyor (MBS) | | The Municipal Building Surveyor’s role is to administer and enforce the statutory requirements of the Building Act, Regulations, Standards, and Codes as required under Victorian Legislation (Building Act 1993). Strathbogie Shire Council currently employ one full-time Municipal Building Surveyor who is ready to give assistance and advice on a full range of building issues. | |
| A Municipal Building Surveyor is responsible for a broad range of tasks including: |
 | Enforcement of Building Standards in the interest of public health and safety. |  | Inspecting and enforcing fire safety in all public/commercial buildings. |  | Determine appropriateness of applications for building setbacks, building over easements, stormwater discharge, heritage status of buildings and construction in hazardous areas (eg. Bush Fire Prone and Flood Zones) |  | Inspecting and enforcement of swimming pool/spa barricade legislation. |  | Inspection of damaged or derelict buildings. |  | Inspecting and determining standard of habitation in buildings |  | Provide consumer advice on owner-builder legislation, builder’s warranties and related technical matters. |
