Home>For Residents>Waste Management>Domestic Garbage Service
| Strathbogie Shire Council garbage collection service is provided under contract by Wheelie Waste. This service is provided to all townships within the municipality and some rural areas. The service is provided on a weekly basis and 120litre mobile garbage bins are provided by the contractor.
WHAT IF - Your bin is stolen? The property owner can visit or call the Council Office and complete or be sent a notice and declaration form. Once completed the matter will be investigated and a replacement bin delivered as required. | |
| WHAT IF - Your bin is damaged. Attend or phone Council office and complete a notice and the contractor will repair or replace any damaged parts of the bin.
WHAT IF
- There is no bin when you move into a residence? Advise your Real Estate Agent or owner as soon as possible. Each property eligible is allocated a 120 litre bin and it SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED from the property.
WHAT IF
- Currently you are not provided with a service? Whilst Wheelie Waste is happy to consider every request, there is a criteria that must be met before a service can be granted. These include condition of road, the number of collections existing nearby, and whether you are already on our existing run. Please complete the application on this site and post, fax, email or deliver to the Council office.
Bin Records
- In order to ensure that each household maintains its own bin, a unique serial number is marked on each bin and the number registered in a data bas against that property. Residents should record their bin number to assist in recovery if it goes missing.
PLEASE REMEMBER | |
 | To ensure your bin is emptied, the bin must be placed kerbside/roadside the night prior to the collection day. | | Building materials, pipes, wires, planks of wood, concrete are not domestic waste and should not be placed in your garbage bin. These items should be taken directly to the Violet Town Landfill. The lifting arms on our vehicles have a weight capacity of 85kg and will not lift a bin if it is too heavy. Large items (eg concrete) can create havoc with our compaction unit and cannot therefore be collected. | | Putting loose plastic bags and non-recylcable paper inside another before placing it in the bin, will help stop them from "flying away" as the bin is emptied. | | You may be requested to place your mobile garbage bin on the opposite side of the road to your property to make the collection schedule more efficient. |
